President Donald Trump stanley cup  has signed an executive order directing federal agencies and political appointees to stockpile active pharmaceutical ingredients  APIs  for the most critical medicines.1 The order directs the agencies and appointees to develop a list of roughly 26 drugs that are especially critical to the health and security interests of the nation within 30 days of the date the executive order was signed  August 13 . The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response  ASPR  must work with agencies with scientific expertise, the Assistant to the President for Economic Policy  APEP , and the Assistant to the President and Homeland Security Advisor  APHSA  to complete the list.The ASPR must also work with other agencies, the APEP, and the APHSA to identify funds that can be used to prepare the stanley becher  Strategic Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Reserve  SAPIR  and obtain and maintain a 6-month supply of APIs for the aforementioned critical drugs.
