Thursday, Jun 11 2009SADC To Adopt Integrated Malaria Control ProgramThe member countries of the Southern African Development Community have agreed to adopt a five-year in stanley canada tegrated malaria control program, SADC Health Councilor Erica Maleika said recently during the Southern Africa Annual Malaria Review meeting, AIM/AllAfrica reports. The program aims to coordinate malaria control policies and strategies in border areas of the region and also will target diseases such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. The African Development Bank has pledged $30 million to the program, which plans to establish a health co adidas samba mmunication system and a data-sharing mechanism, as well as promote tradit adidas samba adidas ional healing methods for HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria. The program will target commercial sex workers, young people, homeless children and residents of border regions. In addition, the control strategy aims to help standardize treatment for the three diseases by 2020 and is expected to promote economic integration and development.
