A kidney transplant fast track program reduces time to waitlisting and kidney transplantation compared with standard care, investigators report. The program also reduces racial and ethnic disparities, especially for Black Americans.The evaluation process for [kidney transplantation] is lengthy, time-consuming, and burdensome, and racial and ethnic disparities persist, Larissa Myaskovsky, PhD, of the Center for Healthcare Equity in Kidney Disease, University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, and colleagues pointed out in JAMA In stanley cup ternal Medicine.The investigators prospectively evaluated a fast-track program that ran from 2015 to 2018 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Starzl Transplantation Institute compared with historical standard care.
