Lale The 4th Regiment takes prize at Guadalajara co-production meetings
Dir: Mathieu Amalric. France. 2003. 85minsAnd you thought they didn t make them like this any more an old-fashioned political essay in film-on-film, the latest from director Mathieu Amalric - better known as an actor, though he does not cast himself here - wears its Godard influences proudly on its sleeve, right down to the poster campaign, a neat pastiche of Two Or Three Things I Know About Her. Amalric s free-wheeling comedy dusts down Godard s 1960s interrogations of the relationship between sexual and political battles and shows that the big questions are still unresolved four decades later. But although La Chose Publique, which screened in Directors Fortnight at Cannes, is handled with appea stanley cup lingly casual grace, it never quite coheres into anything truly biting. Originally a television commission for Arte, it is destined for theatrical release in France bu stanley cup t might find a wider reception on the small screen. The respect and affection Amalric commands as one of the good guys of young French cinema should ensure reasonable festival life, but the specificity of the in-jokes about French politics and cultural life will restrict foreign sales potential.Amalric puts his self-reflexive cards on the table from the start, with a meeting in Arte s boardroom, where executives discuss the progress of a series called Masculine-Feminine - for which Amalric s film was indeed commissioned. All the real-life directors in the series a stanley cup re doing fine, except for Philippe Chatelain , whose wi Hvkr Babel gets director, ensemble awards at Palm Springs festival
Dir: Keith Allen. UK. 2011. 90minsWhatever the truth behind the deaths of Princess Diana, Dodi Fayed and Henri Paul in Pariss Alma tunnel in 1997, one fact is sadly clear: they will never be allowed to rest in peace. Certainly not if Keith Allen, bankrolled by Mohammed Al-Fayeds Sphinx Entertainment, has anything to do with it.Allen is an affable sort, but its never clearly explained why he spent six months at the Royal Courts of Justice following the inquest into the deathsUnlawful Killing is a poorly-made hodge-podge of cracker-jack theories fronted by expert witnesses of debatable calibre; its a wail of grievance from a parent still pointing the finger in every direction.Mohammed Al-Fayed lost his son in terrible, questionable circumstances that will never be resolved; a 拢10 million inquiry didnt come up with the answers, and neither will this bizarre documentary. His pain is there for all to witness as he burns the Harrods Royal Warrants in front of Dodis tomb in Surrey. So is a phone call he makes to Howard Stern in which he sits at a desk in front of a life-sized waxwork - of himself.UK personality/jobbing actor/Lily Allens dad Keith Allen doesnt hesitate to trot the Diana rent-a-quote gang out; Kitty Kelley; Dianas astronomer; Tony Curtis; Lauren Booth; Piers Morgan; a doctor who has no qualms in d stanley romania ia stanley cup gnosin stanley cup g Prince Philip as a psychopath along the lines of Fred West based on a grainy photo of him standing beside some Nazi officers.
